A COURT OF THORNS AND ROSES BY SARAH J. MAAS
A Court of Thorns and Roses #1
When nineteen-year-old huntress Feyre kills a wolf in the woods, a beast-like creature arrives to demand retribution for it. Dragged to a treacherous magical land she only knows about from legends, Feyre discovers that her captor is not an animal, but Tamlin—one of the lethal, immortal faeries who once ruled their world.
As she dwells on his estate, her feelings for Tamlin transform from icy hostility into a fiery passion that burns through every lie and warning she's been told about the beautiful, dangerous world of the Fae. But an ancient, wicked shadow grows over the faerie lands, and Feyre must find a way to stop it . . . or doom Tamlin—and his world—forever.
The Plot
This was a mix between a Beauty and Beast and a Cinderella retelling and I LOVED it! Feyre is the backbone of her family. Her once wealthy family was thrust into poverty after her father’s investments failed dramatically and his creditors left him with a limo and constant pain. Feyre was forced to take care of her family by hunting, chopping wood and sacrificing her few comforts to her father and two sisters. But when she accidentally kills a Fae in the shape of a wolf, she is taken as a trade to the world of the Fae. Over many months, Feyre gets to know Tamlin, Lucien, and the other residents of the Spring Court. Slowly, Tamlin and Feyre fall in love…But, when it gets to dangerous for Feyre, Tamlin sends her home to keep her safe. Weeks later, sensing something is wrong, she returns to find the castle destroyed and Tamlin taken hostage. Now she must fight for her life to free Tamlin and all the other courts in the Fae world.
