THE SYNOPSIS

THE PLOT
Seriously, I have not read a single book by Lisa Kleypas that I have not ADORED! She writes such great romance and passion between her characters, her stories have SO MANY layers to them, and so much action! You think the story is resolved and we have reached our HEA, but she isn't done yet...after the honeymoon, her mom has a run in with her awful blackmailer and the Foundry explodes! It is just TOO good and I want to read them all over and over again!
THE HEROINE
Annabelle's family is on the brink of ruin. Since the death of her father, there finances have dwindled and times are quite desperate. This is her last season and last chance to find a husband to save her family. She makes a pact with several other wallflowers that they will assist each other in finding husbands by any means necessary. They manage to all get invited Lord Westcliff's house party, where Annabelle is determined to be engaged by the end of the party. But when Simon Hunt appears at the party as well, she is forced to interact with him and realizes that he may not be the self-absorbed man she thought him to be.
THE HERO
Simon Hunt is the son of a working class butcher. Wanting something more with his life, he left home and made his own way with various investments, including railroads. He is an outsider among the Ton because he is not an aristocrat and he is excluded from the working class because he strives for more. He has been watching and pining after Annabelle for years, but she has always denied him and been quite rude. Simon is determined to make Annabelle his mistress, but realizes he wants more! He quickly becomes her knight in shining armor, in more than one circumstance!
THE STEAM
There are a few wonderfully descriptive scenes, but, oh my goodness, the passion and the way Simon talks to Annabelle...so so swoon-worthy!
